Prof. Des Richardson is awarded the Distinguished Fellow award and medal from Royal Australasian College of Pathologists

Professor Des Richardson has recently been awarded the Distinguished Fellow Award and Medal from the Royal Australasian College of Pathologists, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and administration. The award is a testament to Professor Richardson's status as an eminent world-leading, multidisciplinary, experimental pathologist, who has dedicated his life's work to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying multiple disease processes.

Throughout his career, Professor Richardson has made significant contributions to the field of cancer research. He discovered and commercialized a new class of anti-cancer drugs, which have shown great promise in clinical trials. These drugs work by removing excess iron from cancer cells, thereby inhibiting their growth and proliferation. These anti-cancer agents have been shown to be effective in a wide range of cancers, including breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and melanoma.

In addition to his groundbreaking work in the field of cancer research, Professor Richardson has also made significant contributions to our understanding of other disease processes.

The Royal Australasian College of Pathologists' Distinguished Fellow Award and Medal is a fitting recognition of Professor Richardson's many achievements. His contributions to the field of pathology have been invaluable, and his work has had a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals around the world. We can only hope that his groundbreaking research will continue to inspire and inform future generations of pathologists for years to come.
