Prof. Des Richardson and Dr. Dharmasivam recipients of the 2022 GRIDD Execellence Awards; GRIDD Excellence in Teamwork Award and ECR Rising Star Award respectively.

The Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) Excellence Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals or teams within the institute. In 2022, two esteemed scientists were recognized with these awards: Dr. Mahendiran Dharmasivam and Prof. Des Richardson.

Dr. Mahendiran Dharmasivam received the Early Career Rising Star Award, which recognizes his exceptional contributions to the field of drug discovery as an early career researcher. Dr. Dharmasivam is an expert in the field of medicinal chemistry and has made significant contributions to the development of new drugs and therapies for cancer and other diseases. His research has focused on identifying and synthesizing new compounds that have the potential to be developed into effective treatments.

Prof. Des Richardson was part of the team that received the GRIDD Excellence in Teamwork Award for their work on the Parkinson's Research Network. This team, which also included Dr. Linlin Ma, Assoc. Prof. Yunjiang Feng, Prof. Ron Quinn, Prof. George Mellick, and Prof. Richardson, has made significant contributions in creating an effective network of Parkinson’s Disease researchers to drive ground-breaking research. Their research has focused on developing new therapies and improving the lives of patients with Parkinson's disease.
